Dame Margaret Natalie Smith (Ilford, 28 December 1934 - London, 27 September 2024 was  a British actress.





She voices Mrs Blueberry in Gnomeo and Juliet.

In 1970 she won the Oscar for best actress for her performance in The Strange Birth of Jean, while in 1979 show won the same award as best supporting actress for California Suite. Her other roles for which she was nominated for an Oscar are in the films Othello (1965), Road Trips (1972), A Room with a Biew (1986) and Gosford Park (2001). She was noted also for her interpretation of Minerva Mcgranitt in Harry Potter, Mother superior in Sister act and that ot Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, in the television serie Downton Abbey and in the two subsequent films. She was remembered life Dama Maggie Smith and she was considered a legend for an kindness and skill in theatre.
