NR: Ciao

L: Ho letto che lei ha collaborato con gli Chicd ed ha scritto bellissime canzoni per Madonna e Diana Ross tra cui I' m coming out, che ricorda di quei momenti ?

NR sì, ho scritto Like a virgin per Madonna ed altre canzoni, spesso ho collaborato con lei in passato ed abbiamo cercato di trovare un sound che ben si adattasse alla sua voce. Per Diana Ross ho scritto un paio di canzoni tra cui Coming out. Hai  fatto un buon su Smule, sei stato bravo. 

LT: grazie.

LT: Hai mai collaborato o conosciuto Michael Jackson e se sì hai mai avuto occasione di collaborare con lui o con I Jackson Five?

NR: Sì, ho conosciuto Michael Jackson, di lui ricordo soprattutto che aveva un grandissimo talent come ballerino oltre ad avere una grandissima estensione vocale, un vero artista, ma non abbiamo mai cantato insieme, con I Jackson five invece ho suonato con loro agli inizi della loro carriera nella prima metà degli anni 70'.

LT: Hai mai collaborato con Franck Sinatra ed che ricordi hai di lui ?

NR: Nella prima metà degli anni 70' ricordo che suonai con lui durante un tour che fece negli Stati Uniti. Aveva un carattere forte.

LT: Ho letto che hai suonato e collaborato anche con Aretha Franklin e con Ray Charles? C' è quache cosa che ricordi di lei e di quei momenti con lui ?

NR: Sì con loro suonai prima di suonare con gli Chic quando all' epoca lavoravo come turnista. Aretha ricordo che con la sua voce è la regina dell' R&B ed era davvero insuperabile, il pubblico cantava con lei ed era davvero entusiasmante sentirla suonare. Erano gli inizi degli anni 70' di Ray Charles ricordo lo straordinario senso del ritmo e che era eccellente pianista. 

LT: Che ricordi ha di Bob Marley ?

NR Lo conobbi poco prima degli inizi degli anni 80'. Eravamo negli Stati Uniti e durante un festival ricordo che gli scattai una foto mentre faceva alcuni passaggi di calcio. Era una bellissima persona, molto altruista che cercava di migliorare le condizioni dei giamaicani e delle minoranze.

NR: In the early '70s, I remember playing with him during a tour he did in the United States. He had a strong personality. LT: I read that you also played and collaborated with Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles? Is there anything you remember about her and those moments with him? NR: Yes, I played with them before playing with Chic, when I was working as a session musician at the time. I remember that Aretha's voice is the queen of R&B and she was truly unsurpassed. The audience sang along with her, and it was truly exciting to hear her play. It was the early '70s, and Ray Charles had an extraordinary sense of rhythm and was an excellent pianist. LT: What memories do you have of Bob Marley? NR: I met him just before the early '80s. We were in the United States, and during a festival, I remember taking a photo of him doing some soccer passes. She was a beautiful person, very altruistic, who tried to improve the conditions of Jamaicans antminorities.
